"In the heart of Carneros off Highway 12 is Cuvaison’s newer tasting room, completed in 2009 by Gould Evans Architects. It’s a modern wood-and-steel structure that juts out from its perch overlooking the winery’s 400-acre property.
The sustainable design with wraparound terraces, seamless glass window and door openings, and native-grass landscaping, creates a Northern California vibe that’s complemented by the youthful energy of the guests who come to sample the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon for a $20 fee. There’s cohesion between the tasting room and barrel building, one of the goals of the design. The design also reflects the winery’s green initiatives such as rainwater collection, solar energy, waste management and water recycling. Reservations recommended."
