Our Carneros Estate, from west to east, starting at Red Shoulder Ranch is a series of rolling hills that finally plunges off a bluff into a flat, alluvial plain bordering Carneros Creek. At the crest of this cliff is a prized block of Old Wente Chardonnay that provides lift for the White Tailed Kite as well as the fruit for this Single block wine. Our 2011 Kite Tail is in the flinty, mineral driven mode, with a nice matchstick and zesty citrus nose. But take a sip and run into the bright stone fruit and high toned floral notes that give this wine its brightness and verve. Aged for 16 months in French oak our inaugural release of Kite Tail is set to soar.
