2012 was a wildly generous vintage for grapevines in California and Pinot Noir in particular. No problem, once we have the grapes safely in tank we simply bleed off (saignée) some of the fresh, pink Pinot juice and ferment it at cool temperature in a stainless steel tank. The upshot is a lovely rosé we call Vin Gris. Our 2012 is rife with fresh raspberry, strawberry and cherry notes backed by spice, citrus and pomegranate fruit. Long and lively this Vin Gris is a perfect companion for a summer day.
