2010 Carneros Chardonnay
Cuvaison's Carneros Chardonnay comes from our own estate in the southern part of Napa Valley. This cool climate vineyard allows us nearly perfect conditions year after year to produce world class Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Syrah. Controlling all farming aspects within our own vineyard gives Cuvaison an advantage in producing the best quality fruit therefore minimizing over manipulation at the winery. Winemaker Steven Rogstad sums it up best, "My style and philosophy are based on expressing the unique character of our estate grapes and doing as little as possible to them. When one has such wonderful fruit to work with, that should be ones emphasis."
2009 Carneros Pinot Noir
Heralded as one of the best Pinot noir vintages ever, 2009 offered a long cool growing season with that “soft-landing” (read: no heat waves at harvest) that winemakers so desire. Result; a beautifully balanced Pinot Noir with plenty of stuffing and the backbone for a long, satisfying finish.
On the nose, plum, black cherry and wild strawberry mix with allspice and notes of sassafras. By mouth, the wine displays rich fruit concentration with lively cherry, raspberry and cola notes set against a hint of licorice. The tannins are youthful and satiny with a bright, cheery finish.
2009 Carneros Syrah
A naturally exuberant variety, Syrah can offer a full gamut of flavors and aromas. Our 2009 Cuvaison Syrah is no exception with a nose of violets, camphor, persimmon and tea, fleshed out with jammy boysenberry and black cherry fruit on the palate. A full bodied Syrah, the spicy fruit is well balanced with light acidity and supple tannins.
