2009 ATS Chardonnay
Our 2009 ATS Chardonnay is a blend of four clones from our Estate Vineyard - 17 barrels of Old Wente, 2 barrels of Dijon 809, and one barrel each of Robert Young and Dijon 548.
Old Wente lays down the foundation of a rich and structured Chardonnay with bright stone fruit character and great length. The Dijon 809 is a highly perfumed selection with lots of bright, citrus fruit and floral notes that lift the aromatics of the wine.
To this, we add in a smidgen of Robert Young for fatness and opulence, with a dollop of the 548, to add layers of floral and fruit complexity. Aged for 16 months, on the lees, in French barriques, this wine is a true testament to the artistry of blending.
2008 Two Estates
The 2008 Two Estates is a blend of Merlot from our Cuvaison Estate Carneros Vineyard, and, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec from our Mount Veeder, Brandlin Vineyard. This blend pairs 64% Merlot with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon with 6% Malbec. Seductive notes of black currants, lavender, and a hint of leather give way to a cascade of black cherry and blackberry fruit surfing a wave of silky, supple tannins to a long plush finish. By wedding the forward, soft fruit from our Carneros Merlot, to the more powerful, structured and spicy mountain Cabernet, we produce a wine that is the best of the Two Estates.
